How to Read Your Horse's Body Language

Bunn Coffee Makers

In any face-to-face relationship with fellow humans, understanding each others body language is at least an unconscious skill. If someone is upset, we often know this immediately even if no words are exchanged. A key to a harmonious relationship with your horse is a basic understanding of his facial expressions and body language. But first, a few words about the general nature of horses.

Bunn Coffee Makers

Horses have been a very old part of the animal kingdom spanning millions of years. They are a herd animal that has also been hunted as prey for most of those years of evolutionary development. Therefore, it becomes easy to realize why horses "spook", or scare easily when something happens too suddenly or loudly. They are also naturally cautious in unfamiliar conditions and surroundings. On the other hand, as a herd animal, a horse is a social creature, and probably the best reason a horse allows himself to be ridden is his perception that his human passenger is a dominant member of his herd. When we gently coax them, or "whisper" commands, they obey our wish even though they may have no idea or thought about why the command should be obeyed.

Bunn Coffee Makers

Because horses are naturally social animals, they have developed a set of very predictable ways to communicate with each other. Of course, as they perceive a rider as an important part of their herd, they share those same expressions and gestures with owners and riders. There is a wide range of attitudes and emotions that will be apparent to an owner or rider that learns to interpret the body language and facial expressions of his horse. However, the beginning whisperer should understand these four stances and expressions:

Bunn Coffee Makers

Alert: Horses are often watching out for predators, even if only imagined. A horse that is alert will hold its head high, eyes will be wide open, and ears will point forward. He is looking off toward the distance or expects something to approach him. That alert expression can turn into a fearful expression or may return to a relaxed expression when the horse has reason to believe all is once again well. Some horses, especially those in front of a line of other horses will maintain this alert stance and feeling for the duration of the ride. That is normal behavior because horses instinctively expect the leader of the horse group to be the most alert.

Afraid: Many horses are easily "spooked" or frightened. When a horse throws his head back, and the whites of his eyes are especially visible, he is frightened. If he is not on the trail, you may have approached him too quickly, or there may be a disturbing influence of which only he is currently aware. Try to reassure him by speaking softly and stroking his face and body slowly before proceeding to work around or mount the horse.

Threatening: There are a variety of reasons a horse will become aggressive or behave badly. He may be in pain. If it is a strange horse, he may dislike being handled or ridden. If a horse is not properly fed or under nourished, he can become confused and threatening until his basic needs for water, food and care are restored to him. If this is how he feels, you will at least see his head slightly raised with his teeth bared. His nostrils may flare and his ears may pin back. Take the hint, and perhaps it is best to try again later after you can talk to his owner. If you do not, you may risk receiving a kick or a bite.

Relaxed: My personal favorite among horse expressions and body postures, your horse will hold its head at a normal angle or nod gently as you interact with him. He is most likely content in his environment, and is obedient to silent direction and commands. If the rider and owner will walk for awhile in the horseshoes of their animals, they will soon discover that they can get along with most any horse.

Coffee Maker Reviews - Keurig B40

Bunn Coffee Makers

Welcome to this review of the Keurig B40 elite coffee maker. During the next page or so I would like to detail the key issues and features of this machine and help you identify if it is the unit for you or if you might be best keeping away.

Bunn Coffee Makers

The speed with which this little bad boy pumps out coffee is truly top draw, and while there are coffee makers that can produce more coffee over a much larger scale (Bunn coffee makers can make up to 12 cups in just 3 minutes), this unit can give you a 7.25 oz cup of coffee in just 30 seconds. The time we save first thing in the morning is truly priceless, forget Master card get yourself a Keurig! The vast majority of people unless they are retired perhaps are on a pretty tight schedule first thing in the morning, and the few minutes that this machine will save you will definitely make the coffee making process seem like something you can do easily every morning, no hassles.

Bunn Coffee Makers

Some have stated this machine makes weak coffee, that's not entirely true, and while it is possible to make weak coffee using this machine, it is the person using it that should be taking the blame for any weak coffee that is produced. There are at least two very easy ways that we can have stronger coffee in our cup. The first way is to continue with the regular strength l-cup and brew twice using the 5.25 oz setting, the second is to simply switch to the bold or if that's not good enough the "extra" bold k-cup.

Bunn Coffee Makers

Thanks very much for reading this review. I hope you now have all the information you need to make an informed decision as to whether to buy this machine or not.

Your Personal Taste in Decorating

Bunn Coffee Makers

You can decorate a home to suite your personal taste in decorating. It is much simpler than you think it is. You do not have to have a degree in interior decorating all you need is good taste and an imagination.

Bunn Coffee Makers

It is best to begin with a small area first to test out your imagination and decorating ideals. Let's say a small bathroom for starters, nothing too drastic. Decide on a theme for your bathroom. A theme is something you are, found of or something that you like. This could be frogs, fish, seashells, flowers whatever best suits you.

Bunn Coffee Makers

When you choose your theme, the next thing you will want to choose is a few colors out of the items you will put around to add character to the bathroom. If you choose seashells then you could purchase some different size shells at your local discount market. When you have the shells look at the colors and pick two or three of the colors to decorate your bathroom in.

Bunn Coffee Makers

These colors will be for the paint, or wallpaper you will need to cover the floor with a plastic drop cloth to keep from getting the paint or the glue onto the floor. Paint the walls or paper the walls in the colors you choose from your theme.

Next, you can move onto the next step of accessorizing your bathroom, go and find the waste receptacle, towel racks, shower curtain, in the colors of your theme. Put these in there proper places around your bathroom.

Next, you will be deciding on the color of the carpeting and the bath mats for your bathroom theme. Pick the color carpeting and mats that match your theme. Put them into place and then you can move onto the next step.

Now the only things that you have left are the washcloths, hand towels, and bath towels, you will want to pick another color from your theme and all of your towels should match the colors in the theme as well.

Once you are done with the bathroom stand in the doorway and look at your completed creation; you will discover that you have dome an excellent job. Your personal taste in decorating is important to only one person that is you. You are the one who has to look at the bathroom daily so it should be, the way you want it to be.

Commercial Coffee Makers Offer Great Coffee Solutions

Bunn Coffee Makers

Commercial coffee makers and coffee brewers are hotter than ever in the office coffee and home use world. Coffee machines that were once only seen in restaurants have migrated over into the everyday office and home setting. These commercial coffee makers are much more reliable over longer periods of time and brew a much better cup of coffee compared to those made for home use coffee brewers. Commercial coffee makers brew coffee at an optimum brewing temperature and offer maximum coffee taste extraction from the coffee grounds. These commercial brewers often brew at 10-20 degrees hotter than the made for home models.

Bunn Coffee Makers

Some of the top commercial coffee brewers on the market are made by Bunn, Bloomfield, Curtis and Newco. These companies have been pioneers in the commercial coffee maker industry for up to 40 or so years. Most of these commercial coffee makers come in both pour over models and automatic type brewers that hook up to a water line. These commercial brewers operate quite similar to your home hot water heater as most machines have an internal tank and thermostat that hold the water at or about 191 degrees, which is the optimum brewing temperature for coffee. The automatic brewers are very easy to install to a water line and all connections needed are found very easily at your local Home Depot or Lowes store. Most commercial coffee manufactures make parts very easy and affordable to get, although most models can operate for years and years without the slightest little problem.

Bunn Coffee Makers

Also, most of the commercial coffee companies have free maintenance and repair manuals that are easily downloaded straight from the company's website. With office coffee companies constantly raising their prices in light of fuel and rising economic cost, an office could save quite a bit of money over a year buy owning their own commercial coffee maker. Most wholesale clubs like Sams and Cosco carry the size coffee filters and replacement bowls at a very affordable price. They also carry fraction packed coffee and filter packs designed specifically for commercial coffee brewers. Auction giants like eBay have quite a full selection of these coffee machines listed all the time at incredible savings. Make sure that when you do by one that needs to be shipped that the seller drains the tank before shipping. So next time you are thinking about purchasing a coffee brewer for home or office make sure to consider upgrading to a commercial coffee maker.

How to Talk About Horse Markings and Colors

Bunn Coffee Makers

Horses have a very old lineage covering millions of years, and many different terrains. It isn't so surprising, then, to learn that horses are found in an array of colors and patterns, with a host of different markings. By familiarizing yourself with the names of horse colors, patterns, and markings, the two lists below will help you to intelligently spot, name, and discus horses among your peers. For beginning riders, it will be comforting to know that when your trainer asks you to saddle up the buckskin blaze, you'll never have a quizzical look on your face, or wonder if you should 'fess up' that you don't know what she means.

Bunn Coffee Makers

Markings
Terms to describe marks on a horse can be divided into facial and leg areas. People around horses often describe these white marks as 'chrome', a rather funny use of the word to refer to variations seen as attractive additions to a horse's appearance.

Bunn Coffee Makers

Here are some facial chrome feature descriptions:

Bunn Coffee Makers

A star is a white spot on the horse's forehead.

A stripe is a narrow white strip that runs down the center of the horse's face, from the forehead down the bridge of the nose.

A snip, I suppose, is a part of a longer stripe. It's a white spot on the muzzle, on or just below the area between the horse's nostrils.

A blaze mark is a wide white area that starts at the horse's forehead and ends along the bridge of the horse's nose.

Bald refers to a horse with a large amount of white on the face that starts above the forehead, runs along the front of the face to the muzzle, and extends beyond the bridge of the nose to the sides of the face.

The main kinds of chrome on the legs include:

The coronet band is a small white band just above the hoof.

Half pastern means a white marking that starts at the edge of the hoof and extends halfway up the pastern. Think of the pastern the horse's equivalent to the upper part of a human foot, and the white marking on the horse would be equivalent to a human wearing white footlet sock.

A sock is a larger white marking that starts at the edge of the hoof and extends about a third of the way up the leg.

A stocking, then, is a white marking that extends from the hoof to the horse's knee, or hock if the stocking is found on the back legs of the horse.

Half cannon is a white marking that starts at the edge of the hoof and extends halfway up the middle of the leg. Consider it to be between the length of a horse sock and a horse stocking.

Colors
Gray: A gray can be nearly white to dark gray or everything in between. Many gray horses will have dapples, which are circular, indistinct spots. In those cases, these horses are called 'dapple grays'. Most gray horses are born dark and develop their gray color as they age.

Bay: Bay is a rich brown color on the body with a black mane, tail, and legs. Bays can be dark tan to reddish brown.

Brown: In the world of horses, the color brown describes a very dark brown animal, often with a lighter brown around the muzzle, flank or inside of the upper legs. The mane and tail of these brown horses are black.

Spotted: Spotted horses feature one of several different coat patterns that often consist of oval, egg-shaped spots. These spots can be distributed throughout the body or limited to the horse's hindquarters and hips.

Black: For a horse to be truly considered black, he must be jet black with no light areas anywhere on the body, including the mane and tail. A fine, black horse in a sunny pasture is truly a poetic spectacle.

Dun: A dun horse has a gold, reddish, or tan body color and a black or brown mane and tail. All duns have a dark stripe down their backs. Roan colored horses are believed to exist within the family of duns. A subset among the roans are the grullas described as a mousy grey dun.

Buckskin: A buckskin looks very much like a dun but without the dark stripe along its back. The color can be anything from light to dark tan, always with lower black legs, a black mane and tail.

Roan: This term describes a horse who has a dark background color that's intermixed with white hairs. The head and lower legs of the roan are usually darker than the rest of the body. Roans come in different colored patterns, most often red (white hairs mixed with chestnut or red hairs) and blue (white hairs mixed with black hairs). Many quarter horses fit this description.

Palomino: A golden yellow body with a white mane and tail is characteristic of the palomino coloration. This color horse comes in different patterns, depending on their breed.

Chestnut: Chestnut is a distinct reddish color covering the entire body. The mane and tail are usually the same color, although some chestnuts have what is called a flaxen or a blond mane and tail. Chestnuts come in different shades, from very light (called sorrel) to very dark (called liver).

Pinto: A pinto horse is marked with irregularly shaped patches of dark color against white or, sometimes, white irregularly shaped patches against a darker background color. The dark patches can be just about any color, including palomino, chestnut, bay, buckskin or black.

None of us were born an old hand around the ranch, rodeo or show arena. If you find the information above useful at this stage of learning, print a copy to have nearby. It will help you get a verbal handle on what your peers and trainers are saying.

A Good 6 Cup Coffee Maker No One Would Recommend

Bunn Coffee Makers

It is because this 6 cup coffee maker is not well known, that is the reason why people are not recommending? Well, I can assure you that this is definitely not the reason, this is a coffee machine that is very well known.

Bunn Coffee Makers

If most of the folks that are giving feedback on coffee brewers are having the mindset similar to mine, then it would be a case of not taking this machine seriously. Well, to start with, this maker does not even look like it can really works, it look so cute! But, it has to be cute, because this is the hello kitty brewer.

Bunn Coffee Makers

Now you would have to agree with me that this is one machine that is on par, if not better known than your usual Bunn or Senseo. And if you agreed with me on this, then you would also be nodding your head agreeing that this fellow looks more like a toy than a coffee machine. And, it is after trying it out, that I think this fellow needs some positive feedback as it has been grossly misunderstood! This is not only a good looking 6 cup coffee maker, it brews pretty good coffee too!

Bunn Coffee Makers

For people that have been reading my articles on coffee machines, I usually award high marks for brewers that are good looking, and of course, this hello kitty machine would definitely score high with its pretty pink theme and matching kitty mascot. And using a removable filter basket, its primary value add is the saving on filter paper and of course most environmentalist would agreed that this is a green machine by not wasting paper.

Its set-up is similar to that of a very basic drip filter brewer, and with the right temperature, soft water and well maintained machine (especially the filter basket), this machine does as good a coffee as any other machine.

What surprises me is the attention to details that the Sanrio folks invested into this coffee machine, that it even comes with a anti-drip feature. This is a value add, I think only higher priced machines would have. I always like things that are easily measured and this hello kitty coffee brewer has a water tank that comes with easy to read water marking that would satisfy this area.

Of course, belonging to the drip filter genre, this machine also comes with a warmer plate. While, warmer plate is not my personal favorite, as I do think they are useful in keeping coffee fresh, I see it essential in this instance. Just imagine how weird or out of place a pink hello kitty theme would like, with a thermal carafe. So, the usual carafe would have to be in place to ensure that the integrity of the pink look and feel is maintained.

So, should you get this coffee maker? Well, retailing at just , personally, I think this is the perfect gift for ladies especially those that loves these cute stuff. Of course, they also must like to brew coffee. Then, it would make a great gift for this group of folks.
